Research Scientist/Lab Manager
The Biomaterials Lab (BML) is looking for a research scientist/lab manager who performs biomaterials fabrication and characterization within the BML. This individual will actively participate in research and design efforts as well as run education, training, and outreach activities. The position also oversees day-to-day operation of the BML while managing long-term collaborative projects with internal and external partners. This position is also responsible for laboratory communications and marketing.

The Biomaterials Lab is core facility at Rice University that serves as a technological and educational resource for students, re-search collaborators, inventors, and entrepreneurs to accelerate their biomaterials-related work, while pursuing the next steps toward breakthroughs, translation, and commercialization

What you’ll do:
The position will manage research projects and related budget, while helping facilitate experi-mental studies. In addition, the individual will actively help in the procurement of new grants and supervise, advise, and/or train students and professional researchers. While day-to-day opera-tions may include inventory management and routine maintenance, the position will also engage in outreach programs such as tours of the lab with local schools or administering week-long bio-materials bootcamps for high school students, among other educational activities. The research scientist/lab manager will be involved in all facets of the BML’s function, including biomaterials fabrication, characterization, education, and training.
